Earth Elements celebrates the simple beauty of the ever changing world around us through minimalist abstract images of transitional elements of nature.
Sunsets photographed to the East yield subtle color fields that my astronomy friends tell me are actually the Earth’s shadow. I just like the subtle color gradations.
Sunsets over the ocean express fleeting drama.
Clouds billow – sometimes from the forces of global storms, sometimes rising from the localized event of a wildfire.
Fire dances in the night air, flames advancing, then receding, roaring and whimpering, consuming their source with primal power.
Hot lava reveals the liquid earth on the verge of becoming solid.
Water refracts sunlight into fast changing patterns captured through attention.
Together, these primal forces make up the natural world that too often goes unnoticed and that presented as 24” x 36” prints help soothe our stresses if we take the time to uses them as points of meditation.
Captured over the course of several years, beginning with the Warm fire of 2006 and continuing to the present, these visual meditations evoke the passages of Earth Elements.
